Rufi’s Sky Kite is a free kite flying game for kids. Rufi the squirrel sits on a green hill and lets a smiling kite climb into the sky. Move the kite left, right, up and down to catch shiny coins, green leaves and ribbons, and fly around the slow, friendly birds. The higher you go, the more the sky changes, from a bright morning to a pink sunset and a starry night. It works in the browser on phones, tablets and computers.
How to play
- Move your finger or the mouse, or use the arrow keys, to steer the kite.
- Catch coins, green leaves and shiny ribbons as the kite climbs.
- Birds fly slowly across the sky. A little sign at the top shows where one is coming.
- A bump on a bird costs one heart. Catch a floating heart to get it back.
- Use your coins to unlock new kites with bright colours and tails.
Controls
- Phone or tablet: put your finger on the game and move it. The kite follows your finger and stays a little above it, so you can always see it.
- Computer: move the mouse over the game, or use the arrow keys or W, A, S, D to steer the kite in every direction.
- Press P or Escape, or the Pause button, to take a break. The game also pauses by itself when you switch tabs.
Tips and strategy
- Coins often come in a curvy line. Follow the line slowly and you will catch them all.
- A green leaf is worth 2 coins and a shiny ribbon is worth 5.
- Watch the top of the sky: a small bird sign shows where the next bird will fly in.
- Birds fly from side to side. Wait for a bird to pass, or fly around it on the open side, where the coins usually are.
- When the wind blows, white swirls show its direction. Steer a little against the wind to stay in place.
- Lost a heart? Look out for a floating heart to get it back.
Game modes and difficulty
Every flight starts slowly near Rufi’s hill, and the sky scrolls a little faster as you climb. You have three hearts per flight, and bumps never end the game straight away. Cheers pop up at 25, 50, 100, 200 and 300 metres, and your best height is saved on your device. Coins add up across flights and unlock seven more kite designs.
History and background
Flying kites is one of the oldest outdoor games in the world, and children everywhere love to watch a kite dance in the wind. This game turns that feeling into a simple steering game: there is nothing to read, only a kite to guide and coins to catch.
Rufi and the kites were made just for Gemuzi, with soft colours, no flashing and no pressure. There are no ads inside the game area, nothing to buy, no timers and no account. Coins and kites are stored only in your own browser.
